Today an agent from Oklahoma City referred a home buyer to me to represent them in the purchase of a home in Shawnee OK. Visiting with this family led me to think about what awesome opportunities Shawnee has in store for it.

Over the past couple weeks, the Shawnee City Commission invited input from citizens on three different occasions regarding proposed capital improvements. The common theme expressed by residents was they want to see the quality of life improve in Shawnee. They want things like a regional sports complex (however clearly not with a $20 million price tag!), crucial infrastructure improvements and permanent funding for economic development.

Having not only a solid economic development plan—but funding in place for it—will allow Shawnee to be ready when new companies call looking for places to call home.

As today’s prospective Shawnee residents left what may be their next home, I directed them to some restaurants where they’ll have dinner tonight and then perhaps hop over to the Shawnee Mall and other retail shopping in the vicinity. Isn’t it exciting to be able to show off our town? It really is the next best thing to Oklahoma City!
