What I Told OAR, and Why REALTORS® Must Rethink How We Show Up
Why I Spoke Up
This year’s OAR Advocacy Survey came at a pivotal moment. As someone who’s served in advocacy roles at the local, state, and national levels, I see both the cracks in our foundation and the opportunities to rebuild stronger. I responded not just as a member, but as someone who deeply believes that our industry must evolve, and that it starts with how we show up.
The Real Issue Is Relevance
Commoditization of our services isn’t just a media talking point. It is the quiet erosion of trust that happens when consumers no longer understand our value. That’s not a marketing problem. It’s a relevance problem. And it won’t be solved by slogans. It will be solved by showing up differently with clarity, expertise, and consistency.
We’re also seeing more off-MLS and in-house listings, which restrict property exposure and reduce transparency. These trends may benefit brokerages, but they don’t serve the best interests of clients or the broader market. We need to call that out, not tiptoe around it.
What Leadership Needs to Hear Now
REALTORS® across Oklahoma are paying attention. They are looking for leadership that communicates openly, acts boldly, and adapts quickly. We are no longer in a season where goodwill and legacy are enough to justify dues. Associations must become essential, not just available.
This is not a time for damage control. It is a time for decisive, strategic action. And I believe the Oklahoma Association of REALTORS® has the capacity to lead that charge if we are willing to do the work.
Why I Shared My Survey Answers

I chose to share my responses publicly because I believe in being part of the solution. These aren’t just internal conversations, they affect real people and real property. The decisions made at the state level ripple outward into the lives of every buyer, seller, and renter we serve.
If you’re a fellow REALTOR® and want to be part of a stronger future for our industry, I’d love to connect. And if you’re one of my clients wondering how all this impacts your real estate experience, just know this: I’m paying attention, and I’ll keep showing up for you where it matters most.
